Reservations for camping sites this summer are expected to be several months later than usual.

Parks Canada has announced that its summer camping appointment date will be several months later than usual. Reservations can be made from March 13th, but each national park, historic site, and marine conservation area has a different start date. Six national parks in Ontario can be booked (click) from March 21.

This booking delay is due to an update to the old booking system. Park Canada said it looks different from the previous system, but will provide the same features and functions.

If you want to save your past reservation information, you must log in by the 26th of this month. After that date, you will no longer be able to access that account. From March 3rd onwards, you will need to create a new user account on the upgraded platform.

The unopened first-generation iPhone released in 2007 has been auctioned.

Originally priced at $599, the first iPhone offered an early Apple 3.5-inch screen and a 2-megapixel camera, 4GB and 8GB storage options, Internet capabilities, and iTunes. It has no app store, runs on a 2G network, and has been proprietary to AT&T's network.

Cosmetic tattoo artist Karen Green was presented with an 8GB version in 2007 and never opened the box. Since then, another unopened first-generation iPhone, such as Green, has been auctioned off for more than $39,000 at LCG Auction's listing, which closed last October. LCG Auction is also listing Green's phone, with a bid of $2,500.

In October last year, Green saw someone else's first-generation unopened iPhone sold at LCG Auction for 39,000 dollars, so he contacted the auction company and put the iPhone up for auction. The iPhone's minimum bid is $2,500, but foreign media expect the final bid to reach more than $50,000. This is because Green's iPhone is an 8G large-capacity model and is completely unopened. This auction will run until the 19th.

The iPhone has changed the way billions of people around the world communicate, pay, work, take pictures, and even wake up in the morning. It has killed dozens of industries (camcorders, MP3 players, flip phones) and revitalized more industries. Speaking at Apple's annual MacWorld Expo in 2007, Steve Jobs, then Apple's CEO, began his presentation, saying, "We will make history together today." Jobs called the new smartphone an iPod, a phone, and a "revolutionary cell phone," which will feature what he calls an "Internet communicator."

A cheaper option to travel by Uber will be available later this week in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal, with passengers basically having access to the service via carpool.

Uber announced today that its new UberX share service allows passengers to receive up to 20% upfront discounts if they choose this option from the app. Also, passengers receive an additional 5% discount if they have an Uber One membership. Uber X-Share emphasizes that it does not cover the entire existing general Uber service area in the metropolitan area, such as Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal, so it has its own operational boundaries.

Within Metro Vancouver, UberX Share covers all of Vancouver City (except Stanley Park), the University of British Columbia campus and the westernmost areas of Burnaby, including Land within University, Brentwood and Metrotown. In Greater Toronto, optional services are only available within the city of Toronto. 

UberX Share replaces Toronto's UberPool, which was suspended due to COVID-19 in 2020. For the Montreal area, it will be available within the geographically central area of Montreal Island, surrounded by the St. Lawrence River to the south, Rivier de Prairie to the north, Pi 9 to the east, Cavendish and 32e Avenue to the west.

Like carpooling, UberX Share works by sharing the rides of multiple individual groups of passengers travelling or "along the road" in essentially the same general direction. Of course, there is an environmental advantage of this choice because more people are traveling in fewer cars and effectively reduce some emissions. 

The main drawback of ride sharing is increased travel time. Uber X Share takes about six minutes to travel if matched. "We know that economics plays a role when people make decisions about how to get from point A to point B," Uber Canada Mobility's general manager Michael Van Hemen said in a statement. "This new shared ride option will provide a cheaper and more sustainable experience for passengers and the cities we serve," he said.

Drivers are encouraged to drive to UberX Share with a $1 pickup incentive when picking up a second passenger.

According to the University of Potomac report, the most popular degrees in the world are nursing, business administration, and law. "These three programs attract a large number of students because of their practical and high-demand characteristics, as well as the various job opportunities they can offer," the report says.

However, in Canada, we found that Canadians prefer degrees in psychology, computer science, and business administration. 

Computer science and business can be easy degrees for many people because they are in high demand and usually earn a large salary, but psychology can be surprising for some people. The report found that psychology is a popular choice in Britain, too. 

"A degree in psychology will provide a solid start for careers such as psychologists, social workers, and human resource professionals," the study says. According to multiple job search websites, a career in psychology in Canada can earn an average salary of about $90,000 to $150,000 depending on experience and status. 

The study did not delve deeply into whether these university degrees could actually get people jobs, which is a consideration.

A new survey shows the majority of Canadians are concerned about the healthcare system, especially in Atlantic, where hospitals have struggled to maintain emergency services for months.

Leger and the Canadian Research Association surveyed 1,554 Canadian adults for two days in January. Doctors, nurses and patient advocacy groups have been sending insane red alerts about the crisis in Canadian hospitals since the start of COVID-19, when intensive care units and emergency rooms were flooded with patients. 

Since then, the already exhausted workforce has steadily declined, and the number of health workers to cope with flu and other respiratory diseases has decreased at the end of last year. About 86% of those surveyed nationwide said they were worried about their health care status, compared with 94% of those surveyed in Atlantic Canada.

Eastern Canadians are also worried about the quality of care they will receive when they have to go to the emergency room. Eighty-one percent said they were worried, while 67 percent of all Canadians said they were worried. Labor shortages in the area have repeatedly caused temporary emergency room closures, forcing patients to travel further for treatment they need urgently. 

In Nova Scotia, these closures occurred mainly in rural hospitals, a government report released late last year showed. Across the country, 90 percent of rural survey respondents reported concerns about health care. Overall, 54 percent of Canadians characterize the quality of their local health systems as good or very good, while 43 percent say they are bad or very bad. Canadians' assessment of the public health system is somewhat ambiguous compared to the answers of 1,005 Americans surveyed, 74% of whom said their healthcare system was good or very good.

While local and territorial governments are trying to overcome the surgical and diagnostic balances accumulated during the epidemic, some have turned to private hospitals to ease the burden. The move has sparked a polarised debate about the private provision of public health services. 

Fifty-three percent of Canadians surveyed said they did not want to see more privatisation in local healthcare systems. Sixty-nine percent of Canadians surveyed said their local governments were not putting enough money into the system, as the federal government is negotiating with provinces to pay a larger share of bills for health care.

Online surveys are not considered to be real random samples and therefore cannot be assigned a margin of error.

In 1851, a 12-pence stamp became worth $300,000 more than 170 years later.

On the 21st, a 170-year-old stamp was sold for $292,500 at an auction in Ottawa. Called 12-Penny Black, the stamp became the star of the auction hosted by Sparks Auctions.

The stamp was printed in 1851 and features a portrait of Queen Victoria. The original gum that was enclosed for the stamp was auctioned together, and it was said to have been kept very clean. In addition, 1,450 stamps were sold, and only 17 of them were preserved with original mint gum. Gum is a substance that sticks to the back of a stamp and helps it stick to an envelope.

Stamp auction house Brixton-Chrome said the reason why stamps were able to be sold at high prices was because "it was issued before 1900 and gum was well preserved in clean condition." It is very rare for stamps and gum to be kept clean together.

The identity of the buyer has not been disclosed. There are two 12 penny black so far. The two have been traded in pairs for a long time, and this time the other one is owned by the same person. The same person won the stamp for $327,000 in 2017.

Even regular coins in your wallet can someday be traded at high prices at auction, so keep them safe.

Where is the cheapest place to live in Canada?

A new study from the CIA, a UK-based insurance company, ranks the Canadian capital Ottawa as one of the cheapest cities in the world. Ottawa is the third most affordable city in the world based on price per square metre.

When selling a house, the average price is £4,227.14 (CAD 7,000) per sqm. That means selling a three-bedroom house of 1,200 to 1,300 square feet will cost you an average of $770,000 to $840,000. Compared to Vancouver's average price of about $1,207,733, that's a difference of about $360,000.

The first is Athens, Greece, and the second is Brussels, Belgium. The average price in Athens, the capital of Greece, is £2244.71 (CAD 3,700) per sqm. When you move to Athens, you can buy a three-bedroom house for around $400,000.

A new $5 commemorative coin has been released.

The Royal Canadian Mint has issued a coin commemorating Queen Elizabeth's 70th year in power. According to the Mint, it revisits 70 years of history, featuring portraits that symbolize the timeless reign of the Queen and the intimacy of the monarch.

The 2022 $5 Fine Silver Coin is as majestic as the monarch himself, and is made from 1/4 ounce pure silver. The reverse of the coin features a sparkling lifelike portrait of the Queen. The reverse features an overlapping of four reliefs of the Queen, who have appeared on Canadian coins over the years, and also features a Tudor rose between her birth year of 1952 and her death year of death in 2022.

This commemorative coin can be purchased from the Mint site for $34.95. A total of 13 coins from the reign collection of Queen Elizabeth II will be issued for two years from last year to this year.

On the 25th, the Bank of Canada made its first rate announcement of the year.

After the consumer price index fell to 6.3% in December, some analysts initially expected rates to remain unchanged, but contrary to expectations, the bank raised the benchmark rate to 4.5%. However, experts believe that rate hikes like this one won't happen anytime soon, and will only be followed by holding rates for the rest of the year.

Many Canadians looking to buy a home are wondering when interest rates will drop. According to a new 'rent market report' released by the Canada Mortgage Corporation (CMHC), the vacancy rate for rental properties is at its lowest level in 22 years, at 1.9 per cent, down from 3.1 per cent last year.

High interest rates have contributed to the low vacancy rate. When the economy is good, rental demand is high, so vacancy rates are low. Therefore, we are looking forward to putting weight on the possibility that interest rates will fall in the future.

Also, unless inflation gets down to 3% by mid-year and 2% next year, banks will want to hold rates, but if inflation shows signs of slowing, they will pause rate hikes or start cutting rates.

If you currently need a mortgage, experts advise considering a variable rate mortgage. If you don't want to take risks and believe that inflation will continue longer than expected, we point out that you should choose a 5-year fixed rate.

Those considering buying a home could expect to hear good news later this year or early next year.
